Indie Business Community

Enjoy Your Life! Build Your Business! Have Your Way!

It was a year ago today that I joined IBN. I visited the site many times prior to joining, looking at the activity, checking out what was going on. I'd look at the membership costs and benefits and kept wondering - was it worth it. Finially I decided to make the committment. So, how has the last year been? Here are just some of the highlights.

  • I am no longer an icon (or the square of people). I am a real face with a real name. I realize that part of what people want when they purchase from small businesses is a connection with a real person. How can that happen if I hide?
  • I had my first cyber jewelry party on Cyber Monday.
  • I now have a newsletter. Previously it was on the "someday" list.
  • My blog content is better. It is more focused on my targeted reader.
  • My blog is hosted by me. My blog URL points to my domain. When I post, it adds content to my domain.
  • I learned about media leads. I made my first pitch and was selected for a post on a prominent blog.
  • I learned that the media is me - that I can create the same types of content that much larger businesses can.
  • I've learned from all of you, I've enjoyed your blog posts, enjoyed participating in discussions, and I hope I've contributed and given back where I could.
I'm looking forward to an even better second year and am proud and honored to be a member here.
