Beware of what you wish for!

I have learned my soap will be featured in a group of 4 magazines with circulation of 120,000, and a readership if over 1 million because the publisher estimates each issue is seen by over 9 people. The magazines are regional and some of my product is regionally themed gift sets. The rest of the product that will be featured will be Holiday scents. The feature is about beauty gift ideas. My primary selling channel is retail stores, but I also have a website. How much soap to have on hand?…See More

I work from home

I love working from home! I have a separate building for my business endeavors so none of it come into the house except when I use the dishwasher for the soap making things. And they always have their own "load".

My home phone does not ring here, so I can devote myself to my work.

I also helps that my husband considers my organizational scheme to be hazardous to his health! So he does not come over here too often.

Working from home has been a blessing during my Mother's recent… Continue

HI Victoria,
My name is Alice I am new to this network. I just saw your problem regards to the church event. We recently attended a suppostly huge woman's expo in California. But it was all a lie. They told us that lots of celebrity and big television networks will be there at the event. Also they told us that they are sponsered by the BRAVO television. When we attended the show, nothing they promised was there. We were also promised that we were the only ones selling mineral cosmetics but there were about 5 total companies selling mineral cosmetics. They promised that there will be more than 20k attendies but there were a total of 20 by the end of the second day.

Well' what I am trying to say is that you need to protect yourself and the only way to do it is to pay with American Express. Basically we disputed with American Express. For the simple reason that we were a victim of faulse advertisement. In a sense that the show host fradulently advertised themselves and made empty promises we were able to make that dispute and got our money back.

Good Luck!

Hey Victoria! I was reading up on the FL post and Miley is who I went through as well. I had to call several times to get in touch with him. He had never returned my email or voicemail message. Once you get in contact with him via phone he is very informative. He also told me over the phone about having to have a seperate facility but I have not read this anywhere. It must be listed somewhere, surely they can't make up their own rules and not have it documented? I'm almost finished reading everything he gave me on the topic. The cosmetic chapter alone is 97 pages I believe? Much of that is about drugs however. Do you know of anywhere that the seperate facility info and requirements is located? I know someone locally who deals with candy and has to abide by these same requirements. She said that there are a ton of rules that you have to go by in your facility. Requirements she mentioned were having a mop sink and restroom that had to be within so many feet of certain things. One woman here didn't have a mop sink in her shop..she was obtaining water outdoors at spicket and was shut down. It would be awful to invest alot of money into that and it still not be good enough.

Is that his email? I hope he replies to me. I just feel like I am running around like a chicken with my head cut off to get some legitimate answers and not people beating around the bush so to speak. I am basically on hold because I already registered my business with the state of FL, paid my fee, got my EIN number for my business and paid for my web domain. I was about to order from my wholesaler but want to make sure everything is done properly so I don't end up getting in any kind of trouble.

I just went to the thread and read all of the links that were provided there. I do not see anywhere where i says you must have a separate facility? Unless I am missing it. Also... The cosmetics they seem to be describing sounds like regular cosmetics not mineral cosmetics. So, I am confused because minerals are natural and as long as they are approved by the FDA and cosmetic grade it should not be an issue. I wish I knew who to call to get some answers.

Thank you. I looked over the links posted but do not understand. I thought that cosmetics were regulated. Also, I thought that as long as we followed the FDA rules about ingredients and proper labeling that we should be fine? I know of tons of businesses like ours that operate in FL. So, I am not sure what the deal is? When I called city hall in my county I explained to them it was natural mineral makeup and I would be working from my home. They didn't say anything about that being an issue. But then again, I was the first person who wanted to do this I guess in this area. This is so frustrating. I already registered my company name and got my ein number form the irs as well as my website domain. So, now what? Who else can we ask about this? It seems that everyone I have spoken with has no clue at all.
