Hi Cecilia,
I'm sorry I have not been a great help on your blog as far as comments but I have read your blog and taken the links you gave me and i am going to subscribe to the magazine. It's realy cool. I have been busy with holidays, kids, and you name it, family, church. I don't have long periods of uninterrupted time. I am work which is actually the best time for me to catch up on email when my work slows down.
Over the holidays I made another batch of candles with Jasmine essential oil. I don't know if I would like to use only essential oils or add some fragance oils to the line. I'm really stuck. My vision is for essential oils but it takes so much to create a scent and they are so expensive. I want my candles to be large and beautiful pillars. Most people make their essential oil canldes smaller becuase it takes so much oil to get the right effect. I would have to chage alot fot the scents I want to offer if I continue to use only essential oils. Other problem - there are so many candle companies out there that I don't want to be like there others and other than my naming of the candles and purpose the essential oils really set them aprt. What do you think - a. go with mall candles (maybe even in small jars), b. charge $20 - $30 for a candle, c. use fragrance instead of essential oils.

I picked up some melt & pour shea butter soap and played around with essential oils and colors. I brought my results in to the office and asked people what they thought. I got a resounding pat on the back and a push to try cold process. So I did some research, found a simple recipe online, gathered up my courage and tried it. I loved it and found it a natural fit for me. Now, I am focusing on coming up with some naturally colorful varieties, putting together a sell sheet and hopefully I will land a couple good commercial accounts to get my soap sold. I really want to grow a business out of this hobby and be able to work from home. I live with and help take care of my grandparents. As a receptionist, I cannot work from home. So- I am slowly and methodically putting together a thoughtful line to help entice prospects to buy. I love each of my soaps. They are all so different and I use all of them. It is also very freeing to be able to make my own bath products! I am hoping and praying that others will see the value in my research and the products that I am putting out there.

How bout you? What motivated you to start soaping?
