Hi Liz
That's correct. I buy my waterproof labels from "Labels by the Sheet". I format my labels according to the label size I'm using, print them out on my colored paper stock. This is my master copy for printing my colored labels. Which I then copy onto my waterproof labels. You can print the labels from your own color printer if you like. I just like how vibrant the colors are when I go to Office Max. This works best for color stock
that is not too dark. (Browns, dark burgandy, etc). If you play around you'll come up with
a variety of styles. Needless to say you can afford to see what works for your
products before you invest in having your labels done professionally.
My product line is African inspired, so I photocopied african textiles
cut the copies into small strips (1/4" wide ) and embelished my master copy labels. This
works best if the label size is at least 1 1/2".
While we're on the subject of labels I would like like to add that if you use paper
shopping bags for your products you can make very nice inexpensive labels
for your bags by using waxed freezer paper, You can purchase the white at your grocery store, from your local butcher you might be able to purchase the kraft color or pink butcher paper. You would then cut the paper into 8 1/2 X 11 sheets of paper. Print out your design onto the butcher paper, This design is then cut to size and ironed onto your paper bag "waxy part down". This comes in so handy when you have large shopping bags and a micro label.
Hope I was clear in the directions, convo me if you have questions.
