I currently run a private bespoke wellbeing service from a studio in the town where I live. I practice under my own name.

About Me

I'm a qualified Esthetician, Remedial Massage Therapist and Clinicial Aromatherapist. Regarding the latter, I have trained in and subscribe to the French School of application, not British.

I was in the process of developing small consultancy and associated product line in early 2009 when I was halted by natural disaster (bushfire).

The ensuing months were spent rebuilding the community and recalibrating my vision. Things tend to alter when adversity strikes and I ended up relinquishing my initial plan in favour of a much smaller one.

In February of this year, I embarked on further study (naturopathy) and this is proving to be quite an interesting journey for me.

Presently, I run a bespoke wellbeing service whereby I see clients on a one-to-one basis in minimum two hour allotments. In addition to massage, aromatherapeutic and beauty treatments, it is here I utilise my oil blends and salves I've been developing as well as researching what people actually want in a wellbeing practitioner.

I also have a small nursery from where I sell herbs and native plants.

While my client base is mixed, a growing percentage is made up of nursing mothers and all of my referrals are by word of mouth.

I practice under my own name at present and have a government registered business number as well as a comprehensive insurance package with which I protect my business, my clients and myself.

Personal thoughts about product preservation

A company's reputation, marketing expense and customer confidence rest on a product's shelf life and its ability to perform as specified. Given the demands on modern life, the marketplace demands that we as producers must ensure that our product not only survives for a certain amount of time on the shelf but also performs as intended. Thankfully, today we have a lot of choices when it comes to choosing a preservative that will maintain our product to our expectation. The thing is, not many… Continue

From the Emu - Our Modern Day Snake Oil?

I was reading a magazine yesterday and spotted an advertisement for emu oil.

This Super Blue, as it is called, extolled the anti-inflammatory and cure all virtues of oil taken from an Australian native bird known as the Emu.

I smiled.

One of many advertisements, Emu Oil is regularly and shamelessly touted as the modern day miracle for many ills which include sunburn, arthritis, joint pain, fibromyalgia, alopecia, muscle pain and scarring as well as a… Continue

Retail Merchandising

I'm off to a forum in my local area on Thursday about retail merchandising. I am very excited about this. I wasn't supposed to be able to go but someone pulled out and so I was invited.

In it, we'll be shown how to set up your retail layout (be it a store, market or booth), the importance of getting the product visually right, increasing sales and, the best bit, LABELLING!!!

A part of me wafted off into the ether when I heard that. Guess all that nude dancing around the… Continue

I'm so hot.

Yes, you rushed in thinking I was full of it, I know :) And I'm still hot, but not in the way I would have you believe.

It's 45 degrees here.

For those of you who are suddenly imagining snowflakes, I'm talking Celsius.

In the language of Farenheit it would be 113.

Railway tracks have buckled leaving trains (and commuters) stranded.

Dogs are dying as owners leave for work and forget to think that, gee, maybe the mutt's hot and I should leave it… Continue

Thanks for taking the time to provide me such thoughtful, constructive and well-written feedback : ) I will think about a way to more clearly show that our products are handmade.

I've been reading your posts and am enjoying following your journey. I think it would be beneficial if you could also get a .com name. I have a quote above my desk by Donald Trump that reads, "You've got to think anyway so you might as well think big."

Keep in touch!
