I am stuck once again with my labels...I am wanting to make a shower wash and body scrub so I'm wondering what labels work best. I ordered some samples from Online Labels that were waterproof but they smeared when I tested some water on them. Would a laser printer be better for this maybe? I just want to get some products labeled so that I can start selling them. Thanks!

You're welcome Kristina. I'm glad I was able to help you. In the beginning it's so overwhelming to know "where to begin." We tend to focus on all the things we don't know rather than all that we do know. Once you pass through those fears (self doubts) you will gain confidence and understanding. Depending on what products you want to create at home, do some "google" searches and a wealth of information will come up. There are a lot of books out there, begin with following some recipes, see the end result, and then decide what you would differently and "tweak" the recipe until it becomes yours - what you want to offer. In working with different materials you will educate yourself on what each raw ingredient does to the formulation (is it hard, soft, etc.) and this is what you will build on. I started my business when my daughter was very young (I'm a single mother) and we had an enormous amount of fun creating potions and lotions - eventually my formulations took shape - as did Lily and I - and it's been a blessed journey.
All the best to you,
Elise

Hello Kristina,
I noticed at the end of one of your posts that you said, "I have no schooling in this". What I would like to remind you of, "you have the desire and the intent". You are obviously drawn to this creative process so continue to follow your intuition. (There is an old adage that states, "when we take the first step, the universe unfolds for us.") Trust this. As far as "no schooling" - do you remember "folk lore"? This is how "education" was always handed down; talking with elders, reading books, sharing in a community such as this, etc. Perhaps there is an elder in your community (perhaps in a Nursing home that needs a visitor) who might share your interest? Just begin, wherever it feels right for you, and without question, you will find your way. Know also that you won't always create "perfection" - some of my biggest "mistakes" have led me to a formulation that was exquisite. Have confidence and don't focus on what "you're not." Focus on what you are, and what you have to bring to the formulation - what you will create is unique. (I always told my daughter, "no two flowers are alike.") What you have to bring to the table is unique. And as time goes on you may be interested in various courses to help you along your way. But for now, you're fine. Go on and create something wonderful ...
