Take A Peek into the Celebrity

Peek into the celebrity swag bags at the Academy Awards

I heard a rumor that the Academy Awards were last night. I wouldn’t know, since ABC decided to power off for Comcast customers, my tee vee provider. I then heard a rumor that they decided to power us all back up midway through the Oscar-cast, but by then I was happily watching a Netflix On Demand Scooby Doo movie.

What I do know, however, is that groovy… Continue

Buy Local

How often have you walked in to a big box chain store to buy some body wash or lotion, only to emerge hours later with a shopping cart full to the brim with "Made In China" tsotschkes and baubles you don't need, just because they were "too good a deal" to pass up? And chances are good you don't even have the lotion you needed in the first place.

In many ways, the decision to shop locally is a moral one. By keeping your dollars in the community where you live, you not only support… Continue

Living outside your Tunnel

Owning a business has been a lot more trying than I had originally imagined. It has taken me almost five years to begin to learn how to start balancing my life. I say begin because I still find myself occasionally getting back into the tunnel – experiencing what I call business tunnel vision. Since the start-up of Plum Hill almost 5 years ago, I often found myself completely immersed in it, which is pretty much what you have to do to get a business off of the ground. However, the difficulty… Continue

Cruelty-free: Animal testing isn't necessary

"Cruelty-free is more than just a catchy slogan to promote a product. It represents an ethical commitment to creating products without using animal testing. The tireless efforts of animal rights activists have brought attention to the needles suffering of innocent animals in experiments that do not even accurately predict the effect of tested substances in humans. An increasing number of people are becoming are becoming aware that animals suffer and even die to produce cosmetics and body care… Continue

What is your position on preservatives? Water is easily introduced in scrubs and even butters. Is not adding preservative no concern?

Thanks and what a nice product line!

Great Question Pamela, I love helping people. After 5 years of doing shows, I found demo is the best way to sell your product. So I have a round table in one corner outside my booth with a pewter bowel and water pitcher Sugar Scrubs, Body Butter, Bath & Body Oils on it, so it nice and full on the table, if I'm not sure they going to have water there I buy the cheapest 2 gallons of water oh and paper towels. When people walk by or start looking at my products I say I'm offering a Free Hand Scrub today they love it if they are hestiate then I say it only takes a sec. Men are little bit more hestiate by once they do it they love it, as I'm scrubbing there hands I'm explaining what it can do for them, then I either apply Body Butter or a Bath & Body Oil 99% buy it. Returning clients I always give a free sample to thank you! I always stand outside my booth or to the side I NEVER sit and read or ignore them, I always smile and say hi. I'm not high pressure just friendly. Try standing outside your booth with a bottle of lotion and when people walk by ask them if they would like to try a sample, don't wait for them to come in your booth get out there and greet them. Last weekend at a show I had people lined up to buy product, because when I'm doing a demo or explaining the product people love to find out whats going on and come over, I always let them know if I'm busy with another client I'll be right with you, I tell them to help themselves to any samples People love the pampering. I f you have any more questions don't hestiate to contact me I would love to help you. One more thing Presentation is Everything
Have a Great Day

I read your bit on doing demos at shows ,so my question is How do you do a hand scrub at a show? Do you bring a bowl of water? For me its hard to get people to come in a try hand lotion.
Thanks
Pam Ernst
