Question of the Week: Which Of Your Blog Posts Won You The Most Comments Ever??!

Good Morning Indies!

I hope you had a fantastic weekend! Mine was very restful, but the work picks back up today with my radio show at 1:00 New York Time with Shel Israel, author of Twitterville. I hope you'll join us.

Share Your Popular Blog Post Ever, And Why It Was So Great!

This is a chance to brag and help other Indies at the same time!!

Today, maintaining a blog is every bit as important as maintaining an e-commerce site when it comes to preparing your business for long-term success. (You can browse all of the discussions on this site about blogging, including some great tips from me and others, at this link.)

If you're like me, blogging can be exhilarating and frustrating. One of the things that makes is most exhilarating is when we publish a post and return a bit later to see that others have commented about what we shared. It's a great feeling!

We all have dry moments where we can't think of a thing to blog about, but when we touch a nerve and people respond, it's so much fun. To help get our creative juices flowing, this week's question asks you to share which of your blog posts got the most comments ever?

Share your most popular post -- what was it about, how many comments did you get and why do you think it was popular?

Let's help each other think of fun things to blog about!!

(Feel free to link to the post, but I will delete all "discussion" contributions that are just one or two words and links because that does not contribute to a robust and vibrant discussion.)

Thanks in advance for sharing, and have a great week!

The one that comes to mind for me was one I wrote when I ran out of oxygen for my soldering. The place I get it from can be a little hard to get to, so I thought I would try a home medical supply place. They said I needed a prescription. For soldering. So, my boyfriend went to the soldering/welding supply place and got one for me and I was back in operation. It's like getting a new propane tank for your grill. You give them a relatively decent one and get a cruddy one back in return. I did try to suggest that he bring a nice looking one back - he said - there is no way I am going in and asking for a cute oxygen tank. As long as I was back in operation, I was fine.

For some reason, this post was popular. Maybe not with a lot of comments, but it did get some and a lot of views.

On Flickr, the photo I have that has gotten the most views (over 600) is of the shelves where I store my beads. Never expected it to be of interest to people the way it was. Go figure.
I personally have a hard time blogging. I feel like it has been difficult for me to find my voice and post consistently things that will hopefully get easier with time. I know that dM has some amazing posts on what to talk about and setting a consistent schedule but I have yet to get into the swing of things. I know that one of my problems is that I have never been a very good writer (or speller for that matter) and I get overly concerned with what I am writing and everything must be perfect! Sometimes I forget that short posts are just as fabulous as long posts.

I have a few ideas for keeping myself on task - making a schedule and also keeping a notebook and my camera with me at all times. This, hopefully, will enable me to get back on track with my blog and give me more ideas. I would love to hear suggestions from others!!!

My most commented on post (7 comments --- yeah!) was about the HSMG conference. The post is here http://urbanagrestic.blogspot.com/2009/06/hsmg-conference-palm-spri... I think that I received a lot of comments because of the support network of attendees and participants from the show.

I have to say that having someone (anyone) comment on my blog is a great feeling!!!
Hi Alana!

Keep it up -- the camera is a total life-saver. Once you get into the swing of things, you'll be snapping away and seeing how great photos are for covering up spelling incompetency!

I just left a comment on your most recent post!

You go!

The most responded blog post (so far) was whan I asked for help (solution to a problem). Folks flocked to my rescue. THANK YOU. The collective advise not only solved my problem but it put my business on a smoother track. Folks do read our blogs. Folks are interested in what we do. They do care; but, they're just as busy as we are. I was honored that so many folks helped me.
I find that the blog posts 'ported over' to our Facebook Fan page get FAR more response than our 'traditional' blog. Yesterday I asked our Fans for input on a decision we're making, and had 25 comments w/in a couple of hours!!!
FaceBook rocks! Still great to have a blog though. You can control your blog. Can't control FaceBook. We don't know what their plans are but we can plan our own blogs. I love being your fan on FaceBook by the way!
