Hi Indies!
2012 is a special milestone for so many people. For me, it marks my 3rd year with IBN. I have learned so much from this community and of course, Donna Maria. When I started my business, I wanted to grow slow until my youngest was in school full time.
That hasn't happened exactly as I had planned. But I was able to take on some great opportunities along the way and learn a ton. I ended the year feeling a bit burned out and uninspired so I took some time to sit, think and plan. I feel that I have some good short term goals to satisfy my itch to achieve results. The long term goals are still forming.
Just thought I'd share. (It's one of my short term goals.)
Here's to us Indies!

Hi Heather!
Happy New Year!
Congratulations on your forward movement. As a mother with a growing business, I know exactly what you mean about things not happening exactly as planned. They never do because kids toss in variables that we cannot control. They cannot be ignored and when we choose to have children, we realize that time we would spend on business must be invested in them. But moving forward one little bit at a time -- and having supportive help in a spouse, friends, baby sitters, etc. -- is the way to go. I hope you have this kind of help too!
I'm excited to know that you have some short term goals and I look forward to seeing them become reality. Keep us posted!

Heather - Indie is a great community and I'm thankful you are part of it. What you describe is so normal - we start, stop, continue on, rethink, re-strategize, change goals, set new goals, and on and on. Even the best laid plans have unexpected bumps - and bonuses. It's all part of our growth in our own personal journey and our business journey.
As I look back on my own journey, there were opportunities I took and some I didn't, but should have. I can tell you one concrete piece of advice - listen, listen, listen to Donna Maria. Sometimes I look back and think - if I had done x, y, z several years ago and kept taking the little steps, I would be further ahead. Oh well - I take that as part of the journey as well. Keep going with the little steps, Heather, and you will get to your next goal, and on to the next one.
A huge congratulations to you on your persistence - that is the key. We are all here to inspire each other, so thank you so much for sharing.
