How did you approach a Salon/Spa to carry your products??

Hello Indie Beauties.I would love to get my products in Salon/Spa. I would like to know from those who already have there in a Salon/Spa what was your approach? Did you mail out flyers or did you stop by the facility etc?

Well let's see, I work at a Salon and work on the owners nails, but that still hasn't helped me just yet.
I want to sell to them wholesale but they wanted commission, I really don't want to do that.
So I am still working on them. But I do have a display of my items where I work. Already sold some.
Forgot!! I made a nice booklet with all my necessary information and gave it to the owners.
I do not place products in salons/spas. I place in rustic country/gift stores. But, placement is (in my opinion) can be the same.

My story: I found two things that helped, word of mouth, and cold calls, stopping by the facilities myself. Many were difficult, I had to stop several times. The economy in this area is still poor...but with perservance, the one that I actually talked to first, the one I wanted a placement in, decided to close out products that they were carrying and make space for mine. I am glad I did not give up.

You may not make immediate progress, but showing that you are genuine, responsible, with products that they consistantly want on their shelves, will (if not right away) get you in the door.

Best wishes!
I forgot to add, I did make up a small flyer, and I dropped off products as well. It was expensive, not free marketing, but these businesses need to see/experience what you are selling. Samples are okay, but they need full sized products as well.
Thanks Mary!
