Beauti-Fall Bath & Body Recipe Contest! Announcement, Details and Rules!

A few weeks ago, I approached From Nature With Love, one of IBN's first members and a longtime sponsor of my work, to propose a fun contest to feature the creativity of IBN members and other industry participants in a contest designed to showcase how much fun it can be to make your own health, beauty and lifestyle products.

How The Beauty-Fall Bath & Body Recipe Contest Works

The objective is to reward people for their creativity, and to enjoy a fun way to share interesting and inspirational ideas for seasonal gifts made with ingredients that are reminiscent of the lovely fall season. This is not a contest for food recipes! Bath, bodycare, skincare and home fragrance only.

All you have to do to enter is publish your recipe with a photo of the finished product and/or a video showing how you made it to your blog or website, and as a Discussion entry in this Forum, between now and November 20, and our judges will choose the winners!

Hmmmmm, I will think about this. How fun!
Here is a unique facial exfoliator. Instead of using the pumpkin enzymes that we see in just about every spa around this time of year this exfoliator uses pulverized pumpkin seeds. It is called the Pumpkin Seed Crush Face Scrub. I use one organic sugar pumpkin and use the entire inner contents for pie or bread making. However, the seeds I scrape out and rinse thoroughly. I then dry them out in a low oven to "semi-sterilize" them. Once they are dry, I pulverize them to ALMOST a powder form in a coffee grinder. I use about 2 T. per 2 oz jar. Mix "seed powder" in stainless steel bowl with 1 1/2 T sweet almond oil, 1/2 T castile soap, essential oil of sweet orange( 8-9 drops), essential oil of cypress(2 drops), small amount of GSE( 1 drop) or High grade vitamin E for natural preservation. You may want to add more orange oil( or any nice aromatic essential that does not aggravate skin) as the pumpkin seed will have a bit of a "vitamin or wheat germ style of fragrance" at first. Use about once to twice a week on face with a small amount of added water in palm of hand for a mild skin exfoliation!

How about a nice spicey fall body oil? Made with Ylang ylang, cardamom, ginger, frankincense and clove essential oils, blended in fractionated coconut oil. Rub on after bath or shower and smell like an exotic spice queen! :)

Warming Choco Chai Body Scrub

This savory pick-me-up is the perfect way to start your day! Envelop your body in a warming, aromatic mix of eastern spices and herbs, including cardamom, cinnamon and cloves, steeped in a base of black tea, milk and sugar. This delightfully textured sugar scrub enhances the circulation, warms the skin and gently exfoliates your skin, leaving your body feeling soft and delectable. Therapeutic actives warm as you rub, leaving you craving more-- it's difficult to resist a second scrub!

1 tbsp. finely ground cocoa powder
1 tbsp. milk
1 tbsp. vanilla extract
3 tbsp. sweet almond oil
a pinch of cinnamon, cardamom, clove or 1/4 tsp. essential oils
2 black tea bags
2 cups turbindo sugar

1. Place all the dried ingredients in a large bowl & mix thoroughly.
2. Steep black tea bags in 1/4 cup water. Add wet ingredients to the black tea and whip together.
3. Slowly add wet mixture to dry ingredients together to make a fine, crumbly mixture. Do not use too much wet ingredients, or you will end up with a gooey mess.
4. Take a small handful of the body scrub and scrub vigorously with circular movements all over the body.

Enjoy!
