According to the Organic Trade Association, U.S. sales of organic food and beverages grew from $1 billion in 1990 to $24.8 billion in 2009, and sales of organic non-food products (including personal care products) grew 9.1 percent in 2009, to $1.8 billion.
Consumers's keen interest in buying products bearing any kind of "organic" label has resulted in confusion and mis-use of the term. This webinar will clear the confusion for you, so you can clear it for your customers.
What you'll learn:
* history and scope of national organic certification program, including the evolution of personal care product certification
* what agencies regulate the use of the term organic
* how the organic supply chain operates
* under what conditions may the term, "organic," and/or the "USDA certified organic" logo legally appear on the label of a personal care product
* what other regulations apply, and what are the exemptions?
* What is the difference between organic processors and organic handlers
* what do regulations (FDA, USDA, FTC, etc.) say about "organic" personal care product labeling?
* how do you apply for and obtain permission to use the organic seal on you products?
* and more!!
