Last Week's Question:
Hint: I always include information about subscribership in the bottom of each newsletter -- plus you can enter as many times as you'd like!
Special Rule For This Week: you may only submit one response, and if you send more than one, only your first will be considered.
Last Week's Answer: 4,116 subscribers, but since no one guessed the exact number of subscribers, the winner is the person who was closest - that is Sisana, who guessed 4,100 subscribers
This Week's Question: As you know, Botox, a poison that temporarily paralyzes muscles that cause the formation of facial lines -- usually on the forehead -- has been approved for use in the US by the FDA. But Botox is not for every muscle. Another substance, made of purified human collagen, is designed to fill in fine lines on the lower part of the face. It costs about $400 per treatment and last about 7 months. To win this week, be the first to state the trade name of this product.
Be the first to answer this week's question and win a 30-minute legal and business consultation with me!
Please read the contest rules here before submitting your entry. Put "TRIVIA CONTEST ANSWER" in the subject line or your answer will not be considered.
While time does not permit me to respond personally to all entrants, the
winner's name posted in the following newsletter.
In my work with small business owners over the past several years, I have encountered at least 6 definitive "business personality types." While some people may be a combination of one or more of these types, nearly everyone I have encountered possesses one of these as their dominant business personality type. Over the next few weeks, I will review these personality types. As you read about them, see if you can categorize yourself or someone you know into one of the types. (Any resemblance to real people is entirely coincidental.)
Dan The Dreamer. Dan is a chronic planner. He doesn't go anywhere without his To Do list and his Palm Pilot. He seems extremely well organized as a result, but when you look below the surface, there's really not much there. Dan has lots of plans, and while he may accomplish his list of daily individual tasks, he never turns them into anything of substance. Dan wants to make money quick, and he always has a plan or the next "big idea," but he doesn't want to take any risks or spend any money to make his dreams a reality. Dan might have been the person who sent me an email last month that said, "my business is not very active right now, but I'd like to have your suggestions on ways to make money quick." Unfortunately, Dan's planning is a colossal waste of time. In reality, the only real plan he has is to stay right where he is.
Playful Polly. Polly is a lot of fun. She's fun to be around, fun to talk to, fun to have lunch with. And what's more, she has found her true passion in life -- let's say it's making children's clothing -- and she embroils herself in it every chance she gets. She subscribes to sewing magazines and newsletters, owns the hottest new fabrics from other countries and owns all of the supplies and equipment needed to participate in her passion. Since people have started asking Polly to name her price to make clothing for their children, Polly believes she has found a commercial application for her passion. So, she prints up a few business cards and sets up shop. The problem, as Polly quickly discovers, is that it's not as much fun when you have to do it. For example, if Polly has committed to finishing a christening outfit by tomorrow, but she really wants to play with the imported silk fabric just in from India, she has a real dilemma. Plus, as she moves forward, she learns that not only does she have to make things that other people want, but to keep the lights on, she has to make some things she doesn't like to make at all. As a result, Polly is constantly frustrated, and wonders how something she loved so much became such a drag on her emotionally and financially.
Do you see
anyone you know here? Maybe -- maybe not. Stay tuned next week for Part II
when we'll meet Wanda One-Way and
Carlton
Cruiser (a/k/a William Wing-It). Finally, in Part III, we'll meet Unimaginative
Ursula (a/ka/ Cora Copycat) and then finally, Solid
Sally
who trumps them all when it comes to setting and accomplishing goals for her
small business, and we'll discover some ways that everyone else can make the
changes that will make all the difference in their lives!
